President Yitzhak Herzog this evening (Monday) told the story of military plot number 9 in the Mount Herzl cemetery in his speech at the Remembrance Day ceremony at the Western Wall.

This, according to him, "against the fierce disputes that are dividing Israeli society these days, and when it seems that the common denominator and the higher goals that unite the parts of the people have been left behind."

This is "one small piece of God", as he said, which represents the essence of the cohesive Israeli mosaic.

In his speech, the President of the State elaborated on the victims of plot 9, where there lie side by side the sabers and saberites born in the country, some of them descendants of many generations in Israel, alongside immigrants from all over the world - Yemen, Hungary, Germany, Libya, Italy, France, Poland, Bulgaria, Romania - people Foreign recruitment to Israel and foreign volunteers to Israel, martyrs of the IDF, the police and the three undergrounds (Hagana, Etzel and Lahi), ultra-Orthodox, traditional, religious and secular, mother and daughter, with different professions, at different ages and from different family situations.

Each space has its own story, its own way, its own perceptions, beliefs and lifestyles, but what they all have in common, the president said, is: "They all have one address - plot 9, Mount Herzl, Jerusalem. Everyone - of all colors, countries of origin, professions and lifestyles, everyone They believed in the rise of Israel in their country, they all dreamed of the State of Israel, they all wanted to build and be built in it. They all paid with their lives the price of the common national home, here in the land of our homeland."

The President emphasized that the victims of Plot 9, and like them all the military plots, in their diversity, reflect the necessity to rise above differences and disputes and build the national home together: "All the military cemeteries reflect well for us that our fallen heroes over the years, Jews, Druze, Muslims, Christians, etc. Rexes, women and men, immigrants and veterans, from all over the country, from all beliefs, opinions and worldviews, gave their souls out of adherence to the deep existential necessity - to build together, in partnership, more and more floors in our Israeli home. We must do everything, everything!

In his speech, the President of the State referred to the fracture that afflicts Israeli society on this year's Memorial Day: "The citizens of Israel, the siren this year, the reading of the Israeli cipher, is a wake-up call for all of us. The price of internal discord is heavy, very heavy. In this holy place, where many of our soldiers swear to defend the homeland , it's time to go back and commit: we have one army and one country. The IDF and its servants must stay out of any controversy.

All of us, of all shades of the people, must find the unifier and unifier between us.

And not only in the cemeteries.

To establish the covenant of life, to commit to the unity of Israel, to the victory of Israel, to the Jewish and democratic State of Israel."

Finally, he asked to cherish, strengthen and embrace all the members of the security service "who protect us day and night, under enormous load, with dedication and a sense of mission."
