Paris: 23 kilos of cocaine seized during a roadside check

A 30-year-old was arrested on Friday evening while carrying 23 kilos of cocaine in his car in the 18th arrondissement of the capital.


An unexpected seizure for the police.

On Friday, a crew from the Boulogne-Billancourt Anti-Crime Brigade (BAC) found 23 kilos of cocaine hidden in a car during a traffic check on the Paris ring road.

It is 7 p.m. when one of the members of the BAC spots a Volkswagen Touran driving at high speed on the ring road.

The agents arrive at the Intercept Porte de Clignancourt and begin the usual checks.

When checking the driver's identity, they are bothered by the smell of ammonia.

While searching the trunk, the police came across 20 cocaine loaves wrapped in cellophane film.

Goods representing a jackpot of around 1 million euros.

The driver, living in Yvelines, was placed in police custody directly after the seizure in the police station of the 15th arrondissement.

Initially, an investigation was opened and assigned to the Paris judicial police.

But the Anti-Narcotics Office of Nanterre (OFAST) demanded a hearing with the suspect shortly afterwards.
