With 91 percent of the votes, Susanne Hartmann was re-elected mayor of Fahrenzhausen in Sunday's by-election.

Fahrenzhausen

– Now it's fixed: Susanne Hartmann (FDP) returns to the mayor's chair in Fahrenzhausen's town hall.

The by-election, which had become necessary due to a violation of voting rights, went clearly in their favor on Sunday with 91.04 percent.

There were no opposing candidates – Andrea Karl (Greens) and Günter Fuchs (CSU) had decided not to run again.

It was the third election night in Fahrenzhausen within seven months.

The atmosphere in City Hall was relaxed.

As was to be expected, Hartmann has now won the election again after the runoff in October.

Despite all the joy, after the announcement of the election result at 7:13 p.m. by election officer Franz Hermann, her relief was clearly noticeable.

"I didn't expect 91 percent.

I am happy and looking forward to starting a new six years next Wednesday.

It's a positive start," explained Hartmann when asked by FT.

It was also important to her, as she explained, “that the costs caused by this election be borne by the municipal health insurance company”.

(By the way: everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.)

After the most recent development, i.e. after the resignation of Karl and Fuchs, no one had any more doubts about Hartmann's electoral success.

At around 7 p.m., even before the official election results were announced, the first well-wishers began to arrive in the town hall.

Among them 2nd Mayor Andreas Karl and 3rd Mayor Heinrich Kislinger.

The town hall employees also expressed their joy at the "smashing victory", as Hartmann joked.

The turnout, however, turned out to be a downer.

At 37.65 percent, it was a whole lot worse than in the runoff election, in which 46 percent of the citizens had participated.

According to Hermann, Hartmann garnered 1,280 votes.

The low turnout may be a sign that Fahrenzhausen has had enough of mayoral elections for the time being.
