Special envoy to Brovari, Ivankov and kyiv
Father Eon is from Lviv, the nationalist city in western Ukraine.
His church in Brovari, east of kyiv, appealed for donations to support the war effort, and the faithful pray daily for the soldiers deployed on the front.
Sunday, after mass, they meet around a tea and, with their priest, available and attentive, talk, annoyed, about Ukraine at war.
However, the man and his Saint-Jean-l'Apôtre basilica are considered undesirable in the eyes of the Ukrainian authorities, for the simple reason that the latter does not meet the new politico-religious canons of the country.
Formally and de jure, the parish remains linked to the Patriarchate of Moscow from which it received delegation after the fall of the USSR and the independence of Ukraine.
Even if, de facto, she broke with her Russian sponsors, this original affiliation sticks to her skin and she sees herself summoned to join the bosom of the new national Church...
