A group of 100 renowned photographers have joined a global campaign for the conservation of the oceans by selling their magnificent images at an affordable price during the month of May.
The shots zoom in on landscapes of shimmering turquoise seas, majestic creatures in the underwater world, and beautiful compositions in remote locations, among many more.
“High caliber photographers are participating in this print sale.
They are warriors of the sea too, even if they are not divers," Mexican environmentalist and photographer Cristina Goettsch Mittermeier, who leads the initiative, told Telemundo News.
The campaign,
100 for the Ocean,
is carried out by SeaLegacy, the global marketing, education and communication agency for the ocean founded by Mittermeier with his partner, Paul Nicklen.
"We have dedicated the last 10 years to trying to raise more resources for conservation projects in the sea, and we always receive messages from other photographers who want to help: that's how it occurred to us to do 100 for the sea," said the Mexican biologist.
Renowned professionals from more than 15 countries accepted the proposal.
Many of them have been working for some time to show the wonders of planet earth and the need to work on its conservation, while there are also others recognized in various areas of the art of photography, such as Steve McCurry, who is the author of the famous image of the Afghan girl with light eyes, or Pete Souza, Barack Obama's photographer.
