State road 2369 between Geretsried and the Tattenkofen Bridge has been open to traffic again for almost a week.

The crossing aid provides relief.

Geretsried – As reported, the reason for the four-week blockage was the construction of a crossing aid at the level of the Zehnerhütten and Breslauer Weg.

Crossing aid provides relief

After an accident that killed two people at this point in 2021, pressure grew on the responsible authorities to make the crossing safer.

Cyclists and walkers in particular use this route, and hikers also cross the state road here on the route from Munich to Venice - the Via Bavarica Tyrolensis.

After the accident, a private individual initiated a petition to secure the transition.

A total of 2000 citizens signed in a very short time.

After a meeting of the accident commission on site, the speed was reduced to 70 km/h as an immediate measure.

The second step was the construction of the fixed crossing aid in the middle.

Finished earlier than planned

The road was originally planned to be released at the beginning of May, but everything went faster.

"In theory, we would have finished even earlier if the weather had cooperated in the meantime," says Silke Schweigler from the State Building Authority in Weilheim.

Red and white barriers are still guiding users of the crossing aid to the "right" crossing point.

The reason: "Both the city and we have noticed that some cyclists still prefer the direct route next to it, despite the crossing aid - there shouldn't actually be a barrier there." A traffic-safe solution is already being worked on.

"Because normally there shouldn't be any obstacles too close to the road," explains Schweigler.

Kudos to everyone involved - and hats off to this solution.

Ulf Ruck from Geretsried

One person who has followed the discussion about the traffic island from the start is Ulf Ruck from Geretsried.

Since the end of the closure, he has passed the danger point several times, both as a driver and as a pedestrian.

His verdict: "A word of praise to everyone involved - and hats off to this solution." Both the new transition island and the speed limit, which was ordered on both sides sufficiently long before the transition, are a very good and consistent implementation, in this formerly very to defuse dangerous traffic point.
