Yesterday, a 16-year-old boy from Rehovot was hospitalized after using an electronic cigarette.

The boy was referred to pediatric intensive care at Kalpan Medical Center in moderate condition, after his lungs were damaged.

The hospital reported that "the boy is hospitalized with suspected EVALI (lung damage caused by smoking electronic cigarettes) which is still under investigation. The boy testified that he smoked electronic cigarettes. He arrived at the hospital suffering from respiratory failure, is currently hospitalized in moderate condition and is receiving supportive care ".

Three weeks earlier, the 16-year-old boy Midan Keller was pronounced dead.

Keller was admitted to Schneider Hospital in serious condition following the collapse of his lungs.

He was treated in the cardiac intensive care unit and connected to the ECMO system, which replaces the activity of the heart and lungs.

The hospital stated that there is a suspicion that the boy disconnected himself from the ECMO machine for an unknown reason.

The family denied the claim.
