The former governor of Entre Ríos and reference K of that province,
Sergio Urribarri,
adds judicial problems to the sentence of eight years in prison that he received a year ago for embezzlement and negotiations incompatible with his function.
A judicial expertise carried out in the case in which he is investigated for illicit enrichment revealed that he cannot justify
the origin of 9 million dollars incorporated into his assets.
Urribarri
is summoned to testify as a defendant on June 14.
If he is found guilty, he could receive a sentence other than 2 to 6 years in prison.
According to information published by the Análisis
research portal from Entre Ríos
, directed by Daniel Enz, the former Argentine ambassador to Israel could not explain a total of 11,546,772 pesos (about 1,813,590 dollars);
7,245,441 dollars and 16,300 euros.
That is,
some 9,077,031 dollars,
which if updated to today's values would be
4,311 million pesos.
The expert witnesses Romina Stepanic Pouey -accountant for the Public Prosecutor's Office- and Cristián Dumé -expert on behalf of Urribarri- would have certified that
Between January 2008 and December 2015, Urribarri increased his assets in an incredible way.
The papers provided by the ex-governor's lawyers and the documentation found in the study of
Diego Armando Cardona Herreros
-a man very close to the ex-governor and designated in his province as his figurehead- were key to analyzing the numbers of the Peronist militant.
The two experts worked together since June 2020 and
finished their expertise in September 2022,
although the result was not known until now.
Suspicious expenses, year by year
2008
: In June, he bought an apartment in Puerto Madero.
He was paying it in installments, until he paid a total of
1,227,000 dollars
.
The operation was signed by the alleged figurehead of Urribarri, the Paraguayan businessman Diego Armando Cardona Herreros.
In September,
he spent $35,350 to travel to Greece
, where he was playing soccer for his son Bruno.
The expert understood that that year
he could not justify the expense of 108 million pesos and 469,000 dollars.
2009
: he spent $7,500 to buy business class air tickets to Greece and Madrid for Bruno Urribarri's wife and $9,113 on tickets in the name of coach Víctor Bernay from Concordia, for him to travel to Spain and Greece.
Bruno Urribarri's mother-in-law also traveled.
In addition, he bought his wife, Analía Aguilera,
a Rolex watch for which he paid 97,394 pesos
(about $25,000).
The expert understood that in that year
he could not justify 499,138 pesos and 302,100 dollars.
2010: in February, he paid $4,953 for the trip to Greece for Franco Urribarri, Mauro Urribarri, Analía Aguilera, Mateo Urribarri and Sergio Urribarri.
In March, he spent
another $20,648 for a new trip to Greece
with his family, and booked a package tour to Rome and Paris for all of them for $39,823.
That trip came to fruition in March 2010.
In July, Urribarri and his wife used the passport again to travel to Athens and Jerez, for $19,022.
The 2010 expertise indicated that the former governor
could not justify spending 550,935 pesos and 371,463 dollars.
2011
: 117,698 pesos (something like 27,000 dollars) were paid in more air tickets.
They also paid $11,747 in hotel expenses abroad.
In March, he spent $10,701 for trips to Cancun with his wife.
In August of that year,
the couple went on vacation to Venice and Sardinia.
They paid $21,424
.
On that trip, the ex-governor's wife paid 2,200 euros for the purchase of Murano glass sculptures, made in Venice.
For the -short- time they were in Argentina, in November the Urribarri bought a Ford Focus.
They paid 117,000 pesos (just over $23,000), but they registered it in the name of Rubén Martínez, another of Urribarri's alleged front men who was also charged in the case.
In December 2011, Urribarri made $8,146 pay for the trips to London by the former governor, the former head of Energy, Raúl Arroyo (husband of the member of the Superior Court of Justice, Claudia Mizawak);
and the image consultant, Sergio Gómez.
It was when
they went to convince Miguel Galuccio to accept directing the nationalized YPF.
According to the expertise, that year Urribarri
could not justify 482,815 pesos, 2,461,639 dollars and 16,300 euros.
2012
: in January he hired a tourist package for his entire family to the city of Natal for the sum of
$21,637.30

Accommodation was not included.
Two months later, a tourist service
was hired to go to Miami for him and his wife.
They paid $15,468.
In July, the lovers once again contracted a tourist package to Miami and New York, for
$43,941.
And in September they traveled
back to New York with his wife in September.
They paid $21,900.
In October, the donation charged by Sergio Daniel Urribarri in favor of his sons Sergio Damián Urribarri, Bruno Saúl Urribarri, Mauro Gabriel Urribarri and Franco Daniel Urribarri for a total of 5,500,000 pesos was registered.
The accounting expertise of 2012 established that Urribarri
could not justify 1,643,000 pesos and 3,582,601 dollars.
2013:
bought 25% of the family business Kriptax, for 500,000 pesos;
he spent more than a million pesos in constructive improvements in the house of Concordia, and made improvements in the apartment of his son Bruno's in the Federal Capital, for 1,301,000 pesos.
In September, a Tiguán pickup was purchased for 371,330 pesos (about $57,000).
It was registered in the name of Diego Armando Cardona Herreros.
The accounting expertise indicated that Urribarr
i could not justify some 4 million pesos.
2014:
Urribarri made new contributions to the family business Kriptax, for 250,000 pesos, and spent close to 7,500 dollars and 416 pesos on hotel services abroad.
In April, the Urribarri couple booked a tour package to New York for $26,597.
In June, $4,700 was paid for Bruno and Mateo Urribarri;
Cristian Penco and Belleza Guido, will travel to Rio de Janeiro.
And in December, $8,235 was paid for another trip for Bruno and a companion.
The accounting expertise indicated that in 2014 Urribarri
could not justify 3,636,000 pesos and 48,511 dollars.
2015: He had "unjustified" expenses in hotels and others abroad for $9,824.
And a Volkswagen Golf car was bought for 391,000 pesos (30 thousand dollars).
The accounting expertise determined that Urribarri
could not justify 928,800 pesos and 9,824 dollars.
One detail: during all those years,
Sergio Urribarri was the acting governor of Entre Ríos.
And this year he seeks to be a candidate again, despite the fact that this claim is discussed in court
