Half a dozen operations at the start of the week kept the Freising fire brigade in suspense - from a fire in a garden shed to a fire in a discount store.

Half a dozen operations at the start of the week kept the Freising fire brigade in suspense - from a fire in a garden shed to a fire in a discount store.

Freising

– The start of the weekend was not very relaxing for the volunteer fire brigade in Freising.

Within a little more than twelve hours, six operations, some of which were more complex, had to be completed throughout the city – including two fires in an allotment garden and at a food discounter.

Just a false alarm

The two Freising guards had to go out again and again from Friday afternoon until early Saturday morning, covering almost the entire spectrum of alarm reports.

The fire alarm system at the Karl-Meichelbeck secondary school on Düwelstrasse started shortly after 2 p.m. on Friday.

Here, however, the system was triggered incorrectly due to construction work, and all forces were able to leave again after a short time.

Barn roof is on fire!

The action picked up speed in the early evening: In the beginning of the storm, a campfire got out of control in the Freising district of Pulling and also spread to a hedge.

Because the lightning also struck nearby at the same time, a fire in the roof was initially suspected and a major alarm was therefore triggered for the forces of both Freisinger guards.

On site, however, the all-clear could soon be given, only the roof overhang of a barn had caught fire. Thanks to the rapid intervention of the first forces, the fire could be extinguished before it started.

Sheds on fire

Hardly back from Pulling, the integrated control center raised the alarm again shortly after 11 p.m.

Keyword this time: fire in a garden shed on Landshuter Straße.

And when the first forces of fire station 1 arrived on site, there was actually a shed in the allotment garden there that was fully engulfed in fire.

Three teams wearing self-contained breathing apparatus quickly got the fire under control with two C-pipes, and it was possible to prevent it from spreading to the surrounding huts and vegetation.

According to the Freising Police Inspectorate, the cause of the fire has not yet been determined.

It could also have been lightning or arson.

The hut was equipped with two photovoltaic fields connected to a battery stored in the right part of the hut.

The scene of the fire was closed and the police investigated.

Damage: 10,000 to 20,000 euros.

basement under water

The thunderstorm had passed by this time, but the work for the Floriansjünger went on.

Because almost at the same time, residents of an apartment building on Kreuzeckstrasse reported a major water ingress in the basement, cause unknown.

And because the forces of fire station 1 were all tied up, fire station 2 moved out here.

On site, it turned out that the sewage system had a leak and that the sewage from the house was therefore distributed in the basement and some faeces were already floating around in the basement.

This water damage was repaired with the help of a submersible pump and a water vacuum cleaner, and cleaning the materials used was also time-consuming.

The work was finished around 2 a.m.

It smells like gas

A little later, concerned residents called the fire brigade again because there was a smell of methane in the stairwell and the smoke detector of an empty apartment on the balcony had gone off.

Here, too, the all-clear could be given quickly.

There was no danger to local residents.

Fire in the discount store

Shortly before 7 a.m., employees of a food discounter in the Clemensänger industrial park noticed that a cardboard press in the building's warehouse had caught fire.

An employee made initial attempts to extinguish the fire with a powder extinguisher before the first HLF's attack team took over.

Here, too, the subordinate work was more complex.

The press had to be laboriously freed from the fire and then extinguished outdoors.

In addition, the building was freed from harmful fire smoke with the help of two positive pressure fans.

The fire brigade cannot provide any information on the cause of the fire here - just as with the fire in the garden shed.

The operation was over at around 9 a.m.

And another false alarm

The fire alarm system around noon, which had been triggered in a senior citizens' home on Rotkreuzstraße, was almost everyday business - and then actually operation number 7 for the Freising volunteer fire brigade.
