The Buenos Aires Minister of Security,
Sergio Berni
, will take medical leave from office and will be replaced by his counterpart for Justice and Human Rights, Julio Alak, official sources reported today.
The administration of Axel Kicillof grants Berni medical leave "
until May 25, inclusive
, to complement medical studies and the corresponding treatment for an injury to the maxillary sinus," the provincial government reported in a statement.
The studies to which the Buenos Aires official will submit are due to the blows he received in the protest of drivers of Line 620.
On Thursday, the official headed together with Governor Axel Kicillof, in what was his last act in the discharge of cadets from the Juan Vucetich Police School.
The administration of Axel Kicillof stated that the undersecretary for Training and Professional Development, Javier Alonso, Berni's number two, is in charge of the functional and operational coordination of the portfolio for the period in which the minister is licensed.

Meanwhile, Alak "is assigned the office of administrative affairs," the statement said.

Berni had received a blow near the eye a month ago during a protest by bus drivers in La Matanza, for which the doctors who are treating him now must determine what treatment or practice to carry out.
Government sources informed Télam that Kicillof delegated to Alak the administrative management of the organization in this period due to his "capacity and experience in the matter", but they clarified that the operational line will continue to be carried out by Berni's team.
