The Polish government, and apparently also the Hungarian government, opposes the publication of a statement by all EU members against Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir's participation in an event marking Europe Day at the EU delegation tomorrow.
According to a senior political source in Warsaw, the planned announcement has a very political content and includes references condemning Ben-Gvir's political positions, including a statement that Ben-Gvir's positions "contradict European values."

"We will work to convince other countries that this is a bad and counterproductive step to EU relations with Israel. In our opinion, the declaration contravenes the Vienna Convention [for regulating the status of diplomatic missions] and Article 41 thereof, which relates to non-involvement in the internal affairs of other countries," the source added.
It should be noted that an EU official responded yesterday to the uproar caused by the sending of National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir as a representative of the Israeli government at Europe Day, which will be held tomorrow.
According to them, they have not even received an official announcement about the Israeli government's representation. "As every year, we asked the Israeli government to honor us by sending a government representative to attend our event. We have not yet received an official announcement from the Foreign Ministry on this matter."
