The disturbing video of the moment went viral on social media. The wildest theories.

Was there a ghost at the coronation of King Charles III? A recent video that was already seen by millions of people around the world would seem to prove it.

In the images, a person in a robe and something similar to a scythe is seen walking down a corridor of Westminster Abbey just on the day of the king's coronation. The apparition would have taken place at 5 in the morning.

Images of the moment recorded from what could be a television were also seen on Twitter, which would show that indeed that person passed by and went live.

Reactions on Twitter

The clip quickly went viral on the bird's social network, where endless crazy theories emerged.

"Carlos won't last long. The grim reaper breathes in his neck and Camila will remain as the only monarch," one person tweeted. Others, more incisive, blamed "Harry's wife" or "The grim reaper."

This user gave a more rational explanation: "It may be someone from the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Thyateira and Great Britain. His archbishop accompanied the prayer of Christian leaders during the service."

A fourth – in a more joking tone – wrote: "It has just been learned that the strange figure that looks like death was none other than Mr. Bean, who had made the wrong costume party."

It is not yet known who the person who walked through the door was, but quite possibly the explanation has to do with a theory similar to that of the user who pointed to a member of the Archdiocese as the "culprit."

The Grim Reaper Theory

But of all the speculations, the strongest has to do with the hypothetical presence of the infamous Grim Reaper.

"Anyone else has just noticed the Grim Reaper at Westminster Abbey #Coronation," reads one of the most viral tweets from the coronation "specter."

This is how the figure of Grim Reaper looks in the popular imagination.

Who is this character? Grim Reaper is how it is called in many places in the West to a figure that represents death.

The concept could have appeared in Europe during the fourteenth century, when the continent was suffering from the Black Death. At that time, death was something that was very present and it is not strange to think that they found a dark character to represent it.

The explanation of Grim's characteristics has to do with context. The tunic was what religious figures of the time wore when funeral services were held and the scythe was a most commonly used agricultural tool.
