Maya Wertheimer and Assaf Zamir marked six years of marriage on Friday, and on the occasion of the romantic event, the former Israeli consul in New York decided to make a quick visit to Israel – which led to an emotional meeting full of hugs and tears between the two.
"So yesterday was also our wedding anniversary," Wertheimer wrote on her Instagram story, where she has more than 534,<> followers, against the backdrop of a photo from her wedding day with Zamir showing the couple kissing. Wertheimer was not satisfied with this, and also dedicated a post to the subject: "My love, I told you that I think you are perfect as a choice for my first husband. I was right, as usual. I looked you in the eye and said to myself, 'Lock up the world, you're really in love with this man, eh?' Yes, you left me no choice. How can I not fall in love with you? Asfi, you shattered every wall in my heart, every template and theory I built in my head about the knight of my dreams, and you show me every day anew that you are much more. You are not a knight, you are a king, atonement!"

The actress and presenter added: "Today I'm going to stand under the chuppah again, this time as 'The Rebbetzin.' I'm marrying my cousin Shahaf, and I'm going to tell them today what you taught me – that love isn't something you find, it's not something you can really look for. Love is what we create together. Wishing us, as then, a healthy and happy family unit (May it grow up with love, Inshallah). Thank you for being with me."
Wertheimer wrote this before she even knew about the surprise her husband had planned for her. "I gave Maya a little surprise for our sixth wedding anniversary, and I came to Israel for 48 hours to mark the occasion with her," Zamir wrote in a story posted on his Instagram account, where he has 80,<> followers, on just a photo of a plane at the airport in New York. "May I only surprise you for the rest of my life," the former consul added, referring to a video from their encounter, in which they are filmed kissing and hugging for a long time, while Wertheimer struggles to hide his excitement over the surprise encounter.
It is important to note that last March, Zamir resigned from his position as Israel's consul in New York, after being summoned for clarification at the Foreign Ministry following remarks he made against the legal reform and against the background of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's decision to fire Defense Minister Yoav Galant at the time, a decision that he later retracted.
