Grafing's mayor, Christian Bauer, has awarded one woman and three men with the Grafinger Bear, the city's medal of honor.

Grafing – Solidarity on both a large and small scale: This is especially necessary in difficult times. "We have to stick together in Europe and not allow ourselves to be divided," said Grafingen's town hall boss Christian Bauer at the mayor's reception in the town hall. But what was meant was not only the cohesion at the European level, for example through the partnership with the French town of St. Marcellin, but probably also the community spirit in one's own municipality. And Grafing and Grafinger have achieved a lot in this respect.

Their taxes are used to realize large projects, which Bauer also named. All of them were preceded by the completion of the renovation of the Grafinger Stadthalle, in which deficiencies that existed from the first day of opening were eliminated for 2.5 million euros. Electrics, ventilation, stage technology and artists' changing rooms: everything has been repaired. "We have a town hall, which is now properly approved," Bauer said happily. As soon as the popular venue was brought up to date with the latest technology, the Grafinger audience showed how much they had missed the hall. Among other things, three sold-out theatre performances by the Grafinger Trachtenverein would bear witness to this, as well as the fact that tickets for other cultural events apparently sell quickly. "This is an important step for social life in Grafing," said the mayor.

A new daycare center is being built "at the stadium"

The city is also making good progress with other projects. A new day-care centre for six groups is being built on "Am Stadion" street, and additional childcare space for children is being built in a former shoe shop on Wasserburger Straße. The playground of the primary school is being redesigned, and the sports field is finally getting a tartan track. Social housing is being built in Kranzhornstraße. For the same purpose, the city has acquired an old building in Grafing-Bahnhof. Efforts can also be seen in climate protection. For example, a local heating network is to be set up in Grafing-Bahnhof. Further charging stations for electric cars are also planned here. "We are working on building a wind turbine in Grafing," the mayor reported. There was spontaneous applause from the guests.

Mention was also made of the good progress made in the extension of the Grafinger senior citizens' home. "At a cost of 25 million euros, this is one of the largest projects in Grafing." The apartments are "about to be marketed", the mayor announced and thanked Josef Koller, the managing director of Bau GmbH of the Senior Citizens' House Foundation, for his outstanding commitment.

These four people received the Grafinger Bear

This year, the Medal of Honour with the Grafinger Bear was awarded to four selected citizens. Ursula Rieder has been involved with the food bank for 15 years. Due to the sharp increase in demand, the opening hours had to be extended in the meantime. Bauer attested to Rieder's "top organization" of everything.

Ullrich Rudelbach, who was and still is involved in the board of the Grafinger Soldiers' and Warriors' Comradeship for several decades, was also honored. He was also acknowledged for his outstanding commitment to the annual collection for the German War Graves Commission.

Wolfram Staude is remembered for his commitment to the expansion of the cycle path network in the district of Ebersberg and beyond. As a founding member of the tourism association, he has been involved in setting the course for local accommodation businesses and families. His commitment to the Grafinger "Lesekerle" was also mentioned. In this group, boys learn to read and discuss the contents of books with each other and to let the other person finish.

Manfred Neumann from Grafinger Talentetausch also received the Citizen's Medal with the Grafinger Bear from Bauer. It is thanks to him that the talent exchange has now formed a network. Bauer formulated its motto as follows: "Swapping talents is organized neighborhood help."
