On the Italian Amalfi Coast, a coach has gone off the road and fallen several meters into the depths. The driver was killed, passengers were not on board.
Munich/Ravello – It is a terrible sight that presented itself to Italian rescue workers on Monday (8 May). In the middle of the Amalfi region, which is actually so beautiful, a coach went off the road and crashed over 20 meters deep into an uninhabited house. As the responsible fire brigade in Italy announced, the driver was killed.
First pictures show the scene of the accident near a bend. The bus landed totally destroyed on a house wall, media report. It is currently pouring rain in Italy. The floods have serious consequences. An important road bridge in Calabria collapsed.

The site of the accident is located between the towns of Ravello and Castiglione. This is near Amalfi, in the coastal strip popular with tourists near the city of Salerno in Campania. The road had actually only been newly paved.
Next Thursday (11 May), a stage of the Giro d'Italia cycling tour is scheduled to pass the crash site. Now the local authorities have to quickly restore the road and the protective wall. (MKE with dpa)
