Paris 2024 Olympics: how to prepare for the sale of single tickets this Thursday

2023-05-09T17:47:14.167Z

Highlights: The single sale phase of tickets for the Olympic Games begins this Thursday, May 11. From Thursday 11 May, 1.5 million single tickets will be available on the official website of the Paris Games. As in the first phase of sales by packs (where 3.25 million tickets were sold in March), it will be necessary to have the chance to be drawn (and rather very quickly if possible) to have a 48-hour purchase slot. And benefit from the king's choice between all rates, 767 sports sessions and opening and closing ceremonies.

The single sale phase of tickets for the Olympic Games begins this Thursday, May 11. 1.5 million tickets in all sessions

Here we go again. After two months of calm, the frenzy around tickets for the 2024 Olympics is revived.

The first lucky ones were warned Tuesday at midday that they would be able to prepare mentally for two days before rushing to their keyboards. Overall, the lucky ones will be rare and will have to know how to match the Olympic dream and the reality of the portfolio with amounts of up to 2,700 euros per seat to attend the opening of the Games of the XXXIII Olympiad.

The 150,000 places at 24 euros, the most accessible entrance ticket to enjoy the qualifications in most events, should quickly be snatched. At the other end of the price list, the prestigious sesames at 980 euros to be in the front row of the final of the 100 m in athletics, the 100 m NL in swimming or basketball at the Accor Arena will not take long to meet their public.

Even if the purchase procedure is less convoluted than during the "pack" phase (where it was necessary to mix disciplines, even unwanted, to validate your purchase), it will however be necessary to show a little organization (and provide some backup plans) not to spoil its time slot.

Prepare several scenarios in advance

As a reminder, it is possible to acquire a maximum of 30 tickets per account (provided you have not purchased any previously) with a limit of six places for the same session (four for "high demand" events). Even if the Olympics in the capital only happen once in a lifetime, the first thing to do is to establish a budget so as not to let the heart beat too hard at the expense of reason. Remember to consult the price list on the Olympic Games website to have an exhaustive idea of prices and categories.

Depending on the finances allocated and your preferences of discipline or place (urban sports in the heart of Paris are popular), it is then necessary to prepare several scenarios upstream so as not to be surprised by the shortage of certain sessions and click in a hurry.

Also target the days when his favorite athletes will be in contention (August 2 and 3 for Kevin Mayer in the decathlon, August 2 for Teddy Riner in judo, etc.) For team sports, the posters will not yet be known at checkout. But buying basketball evening sessions in Lille, for example, maximizes the opportunity to see the American Dream Team.

In short, to your calculators, paper, pencil, spreadsheet. Or phone... to benefit the entourage. For the (many) disappointed to predict on this second phase (four million fans have indeed registered for the draw), all hope is not lost. There will still be 3.25 million tickets to be sold out of the total 8 million intended for the general public.

A third sales period will open at the end of the year on a first-come, first-served basis. A resale platform will also be set up and will allow individuals to sell their tickets on the market at their face value.
