The security sources added that "anyone who understands security knows that after firing from Gaza, all the senior officials dig in and it is impossible to launch an operation immediately. The demand to act last week, immediately after the rocket fire into Israel, is a lack of understanding of security."
At 2:23 a.m., when the attack began, Defense Minister Yoav Galant was in a pit with the chief of staff. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was at home with his military secretary and a red phone. Galant slept for about two hours after the operation, and at 10:00 A.M. he conducted a security assessment over the phone.

According to the sources, the operation has been postponed twice in recent days - once because of weather, once because of uninvolved civilians.
Insiders note that after the crisis between them, Netanyahu and Galant cooperate well and matter-of-factly: "We are not friends of a cup of coffee and do not consult on other issues, but there is no precipitation and there is a good integration on the security issue."
At the last cabinet meeting a few weeks ago, targeted killings were approved, but none of the ministers knew about the time or place.
