On Sunday, around 30,000 bees flew through downtown Ebern. They went in search of their new queen – and triggered a police operation.
Ebern – All of a sudden, around 30,000 bees flew through the Bavarian gem: The Ebern police described it in their press release afterwards as a "spectacular natural phenomenon" when emergency services had to protect road traffic from potential attacks by bees. Cyclists and motorcyclists in particular were exposed to a pronounced risk of a swarm. The bees had been looking for their new queen on Sunday morning (7 May).

30,000 bees in boars: beekeepers collected bees and relocated them
The approximately 30,000 bees caused an uproar in the small Bavarian town. Passers-by and road users sought shelter. Others were curious and wanted to know where the swarm suddenly came from.
Police forces had to regulate the traffic of downtown Ebern (Haßberge district) and also block off a sidewalk, a spokesman told Merkur.de. "Coincidentally," says the report of the Ebern police inspectorate, the flight of the bees ended on the wall of a beekeeper's house. He took care of the insects before relocating them in a species-appropriate manner.
