A woman who got lost last week in a forest in Australia survived for five days drinking wine and eating candy popsicles, authorities said.

The 48-year-old woman, identified only by the name Lilian, was rescued Thursday at the end of a dirt road in Victoria, in the southeast of the country.

The state police released a video that has gone viral of the moment in which she was located from a helicopter: surrounded by bushes, the woman raises her arms and greets the officers who have found her.

Two officers descended to help Lilian get on the plane and she was later hospitalized for dehydration.

The woman had gone on holiday to the town of Bright, but after several days without communicating with her loved ones, a complaint was filed about her disappearance on April 30.

Authorities searched where he theoretically was, but found no trace of him. Expanding their search through a mountainous area of Mount Mitta Mitta, they found their vehicle at the end of the road. A short distance away was she, they said.

Lilian told police her car was stranded in the mud when she went wrong and tried to turn around. He was nearly 40 miles from the nearest town, but couldn't keep walking because of health issues. In the area where he was trapped there was no signal and he could not use his cell phone to call for help.

During the days she was lost, she ate on the sandwiches and caramel popsicles she had in the car, whose heating served to cope with the low temperatures of the area at night.

"The only liquid Lillian, who does not drink, was a bottle of wine she had bought as a gift for her mother, so that helped her get by," Sgt. Martin Torpey of the Wodonga City Police Station said in a statement.

"After five days lost in the bush, she was very relieved and grateful to see us, and we were equally happy to see her," she added.
