The Tunisian island of Djerba, known to tourists for its mild climate, turquoise waters and sandy beaches, was the scene of a bloodbath on Tuesday evening, May 9. It is a little less than 20 p.m. in Tunisia (21 p.m., French time) when a gendarme of the national guard of the naval center of Djerba approaches the synagogue of Ghriba, in the center of the island. He is armed with an assault rifle and is believed to be riding a quad bike. A few hours earlier, this gendarme would have shot one of his colleagues near the port, about fifteen kilometers away, before seizing his ammunition.
