In order to relieve the burden on Germany's municipalities in the face of increasing numbers of refugees, asylum procedures are to be accelerated and deportations are to be enforced more consistently. Among other things, the federal and state governments have agreed to extend the maximum duration of exit custody from the current 10 to 28 days, said Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) on Wednesday evening after a meeting with the prime ministers of the federal states.
According to the information, expanded responsibilities of the Federal Police and an improved exchange of information between judicial and immigration authorities were also agreed. Dpa
