Messi fired Busquets, who leaves Barcelona: 'As a player and person you are a 10'

Lionel Messi said goodbye to Sergio Busquets, after it was announced on Wednesday that the Spanish midfielder will leave Barcelona at the end of the season, and thanked him "for the inside and outside of the field", in an Instagram post.

"On the pitch always with the 5, but in reality, as a player and as a person you are a 10, Busi," the former Barca player wrote about his former teammate and friend.

Messi also highlighted all the moments he and Busquets spent together, "many good and some also complicated", and that will remain "forever". And he also wished him "the best" in his new stage, "both you and his whole family."

Busquets, captain of Barcelona, announced today that he will leave the Catalan club at the end of the season after 15 uninterrupted seasons, in which he played more than 700 games and won 31 titles.

"The time has come to announce that this will be my last season at Barca. It has been an unforgettable path, since childhood when I came to watch the team's matches or followed it on TV, I dreamed of wearing this shirt, "Busquets, 34, announced in his farewell message spread on his social networks.

The midfielder will no longer belong to Barcelona at the end of the current season being the last important reference left to the club after the retirement of Gerard Pique in November last year.

"I never thought I could live 15 seasons in the best club in the world, the club of my life and of which I have been, am and will be a fan, partner, player and captain. I was able to wear this shirt more than 700 games," Busquets added.

"Thank you very much for everything and see you soon in the last matches. Being from Barca is the best there is," concluded the Catalan.

Busquets will analyze his future away from Barcelona and according to the Catalan media could continue in Saudi Arabia or Inter Miami, in the MLS of the United States.
