Defense Minister Yoav Galant appealed to Cabinet Secretary Yossi Fuchs on Wednesday to extend the validity of the declaration of the special situation on the home front to a range of up to 80 kilometers from the Gaza border. "The extension of the state of emergency will enable the IDF to set special guidelines for the population, limit gatherings and close sites in relevant places," the minister's office said.
This directive comes after a reassessment of the situation and preparations for a prolonged campaign.
The IDF Spokesperson reported that fighter jets and helicopters attacked about 40 hidden Islamic Jihad rocket and mortar launchers throughout the Gaza Strip. "The IDF continues to attack launchers and other positions of the terrorist organization. Residents are asked to abide by the Home Front Command's guidelines, which are updated on the national emergency portal."

Meanwhile, the joint operations room of the terrorist organizations in Gaza calls the barrages of missiles fired at Israel in recent hours "Operation Revenge of the Free," and announces that it is a major blow of "hundreds of rockets launched at enemy sites, towns and targets, from the communities near the Gaza Strip to Tel Aviv, in response to the crime of killing the commanders of the military wing of Islamic Jihad."
According to the announcement, the organizations in the Gaza Strip are prepared for all possibilities and warned that "if the occupation continues its activities, dark days await it. Attacking residents' homes and eliminating our people is a red line for which the enemy will pay a high price. The resistance will remain united on all fronts of the homeland as a sword and armor for our people, its land and its holy places."
