Spending Mother's Day in sunshine and high temperatures? Nothing will come of it. The Ice Saints do not play in weather in Germany.
Munich — May 14, 2023 is Mother's Day. Many therefore spend the day with their loved ones. Good weather only makes the day in Germany even more beautiful. But at the moment our weather is dominated by rain, thunderstorms and storms. Many wait in vain for sunshine. In addition, from Thursday, May 11, to Monday, May 15, are the Ice Saints. The conditions could be much better. But what kind of weather can Germany expect on Mother's Day?
Weather in Germany on Mother's Day: Ice saints and precipitation cause inconsistency
The Ice Saints are certain days in May when frost can occur. In the north of Germany, the cold days occur mainly between 11 and 13 May and in the south between 12 and 15 May. Hobby gardeners should definitely pay attention to these days, because the cold can damage many grown fruits and vegetables. The Ice Saints are named after saints of the Catholic Church:

May has only offered a few beautiful days so far and it will stay that way for the time being. Meteorologist Dominik Jung predicts many showers for the next few days in the weather in Germany, especially in the south. In the next two weeks, more than 200 litres of rain per square metre are expected to come down there. This can also lead to flooding on the Rhine, Danube and tributaries.
On Thursday it will only be spring-like in the east, with temperatures between 10 and 20 degrees. In the rest of Germany it is still cloudy and rainy. No one expects frost during the Ice Saints. The minimum temperatures range between four and 11 degrees.

According to the weather forecast, the start of the weekend continues in the north and east in a friendly manner. In the south it can rain again and again, with highs of 12 to 17 degrees. According to the weather forecast for Germany, Saturday will continue to be wet in the southwest and friendlier in the northeast, with temperatures between 14 and 20 degrees. On Mother's Day, the rainy forecast hardly changes. In the night to Sunday the values drop to 5 to 10 degrees.

DWD warns of local thunderstorms with heavy rain in the weather on Mother's Day
Mother's Day will be cloudy, in the course of the day there may be local showers and thunderstorms with heavy rain, as the German Weather Service (DWD) forecasts. In the north it becomes friendly, from Berlin and Brandenburg it loosens up to the Baltic Sea. In the northern half, temperatures can therefore rise to 20 to 23 degrees, which means pleasant Mother's Day weather. South of the Main, the outlook is different. With rain and lots of clouds, temperatures rise to 14 to 19 degrees. Whether indoors or outdoors, mothers should be able to enjoy the day either way. (vk)
