Peloton is recalling 2.2 million stationary bikes for safety reasons, the second largest such move the fitness company is facing.
According to a statement released Thursday by the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), the seat post of bicycles can break during use, with the consequent risk of falls and injury to the user.
Peloton has already received 35 reports of broken and detached bicycle seat post during use, according to CPSC, including 13 reports of injuries including wrist fractures, lacerations and contusions.

"Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled exercise bikes and contact Peloton to opt for a free repair," the statement said. "Peloton is offering consumers a free seat post that can be self-installed."

It's not the first time Peloton has faced widespread retreat. In May 2021, it was forced to recall 125,000 of its Tread+ treadmills following the death of a child and other machine-related issues.
Peloton shares fell more than 7% after Thursday's announcement.
