Munich/Liverpool – The semi-finals have been completed, and the field of participants for the grand ESC final on 13 May has been determined. Of course, the dark rockers Lord of the Lost from Hamburg, who already have a free ticket for the decision show in Liverpool, will also be there. A total of 26 countries are competing to take the crown at this year's Eurovision Song Contest. But who is given the best chances?

In the run-up to the 2023 ESC final, an expert has already predicted a three-way battle. For him, but also for the bookmakers, this year's favorites come from Sweden, Finland and France. Sweden will be represented by singer Loreen, who wants to repeat her success from 2012. "Tattoo" is the name of the song, from which she hopes to score as many points as possible. At the first ESC semi-final, Loreen already knew how to convince.
Finland, on the other hand, relies on Käärijä and the title "Cha Cha Cha", a wild metal-rap piece. And France relies on an emotional pop chanson ("Évidemment") performed by La Zarra. Meanwhile, Germany is not listed too far ahead in all the predictions ahead of the 2023 ESC final. However, a solid place in the midfield would be a small sense of achievement after the ESC bankruptcies in recent years.

However, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will not appear in the form of a video message at the 2023 ESC final. His request to address the audience of the Eurovision Song Contest was not accepted – "because it violates the rules of the event". This was announced by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) on Thursday, 11 May. After all, one of the cornerstones of the ESC is the non-political nature of competition.

Barbara Schöneberger, who will be represented by Elton at the 2023 German jury scoring ceremony, sees things differently. In an interview with the Redaktionsnetzwerk Deutschland (RND), the presenter spoke of the fact that the ESC is much more than a singing competition. "The ESC doesn't want to be political, but of course it is to the highest degree," Schöneberger said on Friday, May 12. This would have been shown by the ESC result of 2022.

Schöneberger also knew how to comment on the German representatives to the RND. Lord of the Lost have already had several rehearsals in which Harms had to demand everything from his singing voice. On Thursday, he had announced a voice problem, reports bild.de. "Through daily rehearsals and hours of interviews, it quickly happens to me that a sore throat sets in. I already know that from tours," said the German ESC star.
