Oscar-winning American actor Jamie Foxx has been released from hospital and is recovering from a "medical complication", his daughter and agent announced Friday, May 12.
Last month, the 55-year-old star was rushed to a medical facility in Georgia, in the south of the United States, where he was shooting a film for Netflix. No details about the actor's ailments have since been disclosed, leading some to speculate about a deterioration in his health. But his daughter, Corinne Foxx, was keen to dispel those rumors in an Instagram post on Friday. Deploring media speculation, she said: "My father has been out of hospital for several weeks and is recovering. He was even playing pickleball yesterday," a racquet sport very popular in the United States. Jamie Foxx's agent confirmed the information to AFP, without providing further details.
'A medical complication'
During his career, Jamie Foxx won an Oscar in 2004 for his bluffing portrayal of soul legend Ray Charles in the biopic Ray. He was also nominated for an Oscar for his role in Collateral the same year, and also made an impression by playing a slave to conquer his freedom, in Quentin Tarantino's western Django Unchained. He recently filmed Back in Action alongside Cameron Diaz in Georgia.
In an April 12 Instagram post, Corinne Foxx wrote that her father had "experienced a medical complication" but that "fortunately, thanks to quick action and quality care, he (was) already on the road to recovery." The actor himself wrote on Instagram last week, saying he "appreciates all the love" he received.
