King Charles III does everything for his grandchildren – he even breaks with centuries-old traditions. At the coronation, Prince George was allowed to have a say in his outfit.
London – Prince George (9) is second in line to the British throne after his father Prince William (40). That is why he was given a special role in the coronation of King Charles III (74) and Queen Camilla (75). George was one of the eight pages of honour who helped carry the heavy robes of Charles and Camilla in procession through Westminster Abbey. Actually, the pages of honor are supposed to be at least twelve years old, but an exception was made for Prince George – not the only extra sausage for the mini-royal.
Fear of ridicule and mockery at school: Prince George wished for a different coronation outfit
Prince George's parents Princess Kate (41) and Prince William had worried in the run-up to Charles III's coronation that the pressure their eldest son would face at such a historic event might be too great. George himself, however, is said to have had completely different concerns, as a court employee told the Daily Mail.
Actually, the pages of honor wear tights and white knee-length breeches, but this apparently did not cause enthusiasm among Prince George. "He had no interest in wearing tights and being laughed at at school for it," the insider said. King Charles was sympathetic and allowed Prince George and the other pages of honour to wear black trousers with gold side stripes instead of knee-length breeches and tights.

Like grandson, like grandpa: King Charles didn't feel like knee-length breeches and tights either
After the change in the dress code, nothing stood in the way of a successful appearance. Prince George mastered his task as a page of honour at the coronation of King Charles III with flying colours despite his young age, even if the tension was quite visible in some moments - his tongue was sometimes unconsciously sticked out.

Incidentally, it is not surprising that King Charles III willingly fulfilled George's wishes for changes, because he himself should have worn silk stockings and breeches with his coronation robe, like his great-grandfather George V (70, † 1936) and his grandfather George VI (56, † 1952) before him. However, Charles also decided to swap the traditional leg dresses for navy trousers, to the dismay of the royal tailor, who, according to Express, believed that tights should be worn with buckled shoes.
