Kassel/Zwickau – A light brown dog jumped around on the highway in Saxony. Officials had trouble approaching the animal, the Zwickau police reported. Emergency services quickly discovered the reason for the extraordinary behavior of the four-legged friend. Another dog lay dead on the road – probably run over.

"Visibly grieving, the mongrel dog," according to the police, "excitedly defended his dead friend." Presumably, the two had been on the road before. The grieving dog had previously been discovered and reported by a motorist on Sunday night on the A72 motorway in Saxony just before the Zwickau-Ost junction.
Since it was difficult to catch the mongrel dog, the emergency services, with the help of other officials, closed the highway in both directions for about an hour and a half for safety reasons. The officers finally managed to capture the animal and calm it down.
