423 days after the presidential announcement of the 'war on inflation', a saga of defeats lays bare the reality of the government without ideas or reaction.

War Diary. Day 1. March 15, 2022. President Alberto Fernández announces that the country is entering combat: "I promise you that another war will begin: the war against inflation in Argentina. We're going to put an end to the speculators and bring order."

Inflation for that month is 6.7 percent.

Day 241 (November 11, 2022). The Government launches a new stage of the Fair Prices Program, which proposes an average monthly inflation of 3.2 percent until June 30, 2023.

Inflation for that month is 4.9 percent.

Day 304 (January 13, 2023). The Government agrees with the Moyanos that the Teamsters union will participate in the controls to ensure compliance with the Fair Prices program in supermarkets.

Day 314 (January 23). Alberto Fernández states that "much of inflation is self-constructed; It's in people's heads."

Inflation for that month is 6 percent.

Day 341 (February 19). Minister Sergio Massa says the goal of closing the election year with annual inflation of 60% remains "achievable."

"No bad result in a match is going to get me out of the fight in the championship because of inflation," he says. Football man, he uses "championship" instead of "war".

Inflation for that month is 6.6 percent.

Day 360 (March 10). Cristina Kirchner speaks at a University in Rio Negro and criticizes the agreement with the Fund where Massa plays part of his championship.

"There are agreements that can be inflationary," says Cristina. The conditions are going to have to be reviewed."

Inflation for that month is 7.7 percent.

Day 400 (April 19). After rumors of changes in the Economy, the minister's wife, Malena Galmarini, says: "The end is when Massa leaves."

Day 423 (May 12). The president says on the radio: "I was talking to Sergio Massa because we have to set ourselves some definitive objective to stop this... There is a speculation that I called psychological inflation."

As on day 314, Fernández insists on the hypothesis of imaginary inflation.

And he speaks of "definitive objective" so that we interpret, perhaps, that the endless saga of monthly defeats (what Massa calls "matches") would be about transitory objectives.

Then it is announced that inflation in April is 8.4 percent and that the year-on-year reaches 108.8, the highest in the last 30 years.

The accumulated of the first quarter is already 32 percent, so to reach the "championship" of Massa of 60 percent per year there would have to be a monthly inflation of 2.4, from here to the end of the year, every month.

Explained in Massa mode: he would have to win eight games in a row six to zero - four at the Maracanã and four at the height of La Paz -, with 9 players.

Attention: any official could say at any time that this is mathematically possible. Endorsement.

We look at Napoleon: "In war, obstacles are overcome with prudence, wisdom and skill."

The Imaginary Inflation front creaks, with a platoon making water on all sides.

As in any war, underneath there are people who suffer.
