The shadow of the Ukrainian "spring" counter-offensive continues to hang over Bakhmut, without knowing when the cleaver might fall on the Kremlin troops. At the end of April, the Ukrainian Minister of Defense assured that the preparations were coming to an end, and that the major maneuvers were imminent. But on Thursday, May 11, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky backpedaled and assured that his army still needed time to prepare. The next day, however, Ukraine's deputy defense minister announced that Kiev's forces had advanced two kilometers around the city and that Russian forces had retreated to some areas near the city as a result of counterattacks by Kiev's forces. What is really happening in Bakhmut? Has the counter-offensive begun, or is Ukraine conducting an intox operation, a game at which it excels?
