Bremen's head of government and SPD top candidate Andreas Bovenschulte sees his party as the clear winner of the state elections in Germany's smallest state. "What a day, what a result. We fought a tough election campaign together and it was worth it," Bovenschulte said on Sunday evening on ARD. "The number one in Bremen - that's us!"
According to forecasts, the SPD became the strongest force in the state elections on Sunday in the state of Bremen.
Bovenschulte said that the SPD stands for a strong economy and a community that holds together socially. "Because we have the whole country and all the people in mind and not any particular interests are the focus," said the 57-year-old. "That's why I'm so pleased that so many people have supported us with their votes today." dpa
