Eight people were arrested Monday evening, May 15 in Amiens for an attack against Jean-Baptiste Trogneux, a great-nephew of Brigitte Macron and boss of the Trogneux chocolate factory, on the sidelines of a demonstration against the pension reform, reported a police source and his father. Those arrested were still in custody on Tuesday morning, said the police source.

According to Jean-Alexandre Trogneux, father of the victim, it is six men and two women. According to him, his son, aged 30, was recognized and attacked by a group that participated in a "casserolade" in the city center of Amiens after the interview of Emmanuel Macron to the news of 20 hours of TF1.

"The president, his wife and our family"

The attackers beat him on the head, arms and legs, cursing "the president, his wife and our family", before fleeing when three neighbours intervened, he told AFP. Jean-Baptiste Trogneux was Tuesday morning "under observation waiting for a scanner," said his father. With this aggression, "we have crossed the line, I am frightened," he commented.

He deplored that despite the absence of "any financial link" between the Trogneux chocolate factory and the presidential couple, the establishments of this brand in the Hauts-de-France have been regularly targeted on the sidelines of demonstrations since the head of state came to power. The Amiens prosecutor's office did not respond to AFP's requests for comment.
