The government is trying to pick up the pieces. A week after the resignation of the mayor of Saint-Brévin (Loire-Atlantique), Elisabeth Borne received Wednesday late afternoon Yannick Morez in Matignon. A meeting first one-on-one, then nourished by an exchange with associations of elected officials. If the meeting was not intended to convince the mayor to "change his mind", it was known in the wake of the Prime Minister, Elisabeth Borne had however asked the prefect to suspend his resignation until their meeting.
After the arson attack on his home last March, the local elected official had decided to throw in the towel, causing a stir in the political class. Since the beginning of the year, the former mayor was under pressure from collectives opposed to the project to transfer a reception center for asylum seekers (Cada), already present in the commune, near an elementary school. Questioned by Yannick Morez and the oppositions for its "inaction", the executive has since redoubled...
