Members of the Otzma Yehudit party abandoned the plenum on Wednesday and did not participate in some of the votes, in protest of budget cuts for the Negev and Galilee, and in accordance with the threatening letter sent by Minister of the Negev, Galilee and National Resilience Yitzhak Wasserlauf to the Minister of Finance earlier this week. Their absence led to a bill by MK Meir Cohen that would pass the Knesset plenum in a preliminary reading.
After the coalition realized that it did not have a majority, it reversed its position and supported the opposition's proposal regarding eligibility for diagnosing learning disabilities for children from disadvantaged families.
Recall that this is the second time that Otzma Yehudit has boycotted the votes in the past month, when in the days preceding the military operation in Gaza "Shield and Arrow" they launched a protest in order to persuade their friend to instill "more governance."
It should be noted that the head of the party, National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, also expressed dissatisfaction earlier this week with Bezalel Smotrich's plan to distribute coalition funds.
