A 4-year-old boy was rushed today (Thursday) to Sorka Hospital in Beer Sheva in critical condition after choking (apparently from a grape) in a supermarket in the city. MDA medics and paramedics who arrived at the scene gave him medical treatment and evacuated him to hospital while performing CPR.
MDA paramedic Najem Zaid said: "When we entered the supermarket, we saw the boy lying unconscious, without a pulse and without breathing while basic CPR was being performed. We were told that he ate grape and began to gasp. We immediately began advanced medical treatment and performed CPR, including medication and ventilation, and evacuated him to the hospital while continuing CPR while his condition was critical."

This is the fifth case in the past five days in which a child/toddler choked on a foreign object and was rushed to hospital.
Yesterday, the Assuta Ashdod Public Hospital reported that in the past four days (until yesterday), four children had been evacuated after carrying out foreign objects. Among them, game chain parts are made of magnets and silver coins. While two of the children were discharged within four hours, two others (ages 4 and 7) required emergency surgery due to the severity of their condition.
