Palma – Bright blue skies, the breathtaking backdrop of the Colloseo Balear and some of the biggest names the German-speaking pop scene has to offer – fans are guaranteed to remember the "Schlagersterne Mallorca" on May 10 and 11 for a long time to come. True superstars such as Beatrice Egli (34) and Giovanni Zarrella (45) did the honors at the two-day event and a real veteran of the industry was not to be missed at the colorful spectacle: Nik P. (61). With IPPEN. MEDIA, he chatted about what is probably the biggest milestone of his career: "Ein Stern".

Since the release of his first album "Broken Heart" in 1997, Nik P., whose real name is Nikolaus Presnik, has released countless songs and built a career that many newcomers can only dream of today. Nevertheless, any conversation about the singer inevitably returns to "Ein Stern" – and for good reason. After all, the catchy number, which was originally composed for the Grand Prix des Schlagers, is one of the greatest successes in German music history with over 1.2 million singles sold.
"It's both a blessing and a curse," says Nik P. in an interview with IPPEN. MEDIA the sensational success of "Ein Stern (... who bears your name)". "Of course, you want to show more what you can do, with more things or songs to be recognized where the quality and art of the artist actually lies." But even though millions of passionate pop listeners today only associate him with this one anthem, he is now proud to have created something so great.

"I feel it again and again when I go on stage, that of course people sing and join in with every song, but they all freak out at 'Stern'," says Nik P., describing the euphoric reactions that his hit of the century still evokes today. "And that (...) also somehow gives you a certain security, because people have never lost the power and the power and magic that is in these songs, but keep coming back and looking 'What is he doing? What else does he say?'"
The unexpected success of "One Star"
Today, every child can sing along to "Ein Stern", but no one expected that the song would become such a sensational success at the beginning. Because when Nik P. performed the number in 1998 at the Grand Prix of the Schlager, he only ended up in tenth place. It wasn't until he launched a new version together with DJ Ötzi in 2007 and breathed new life into the song that "Ein Stern" was able to really take off in the charts. 16 years and countless records later, as we all know, the rest is history ...

)The fact that he can still be on the big stages more than 15 years later and inspire fans with his music "is the most beautiful thing that can happen," says the Austrian-born musician gratefully. To his duet with DJ Ötzi (52), which has been awarded four times platinum, Nik P. seems to have a very healthy relationship today. "You have to live with the fact that the 'star' is always somehow taken as an object of comparison or comparison song when you do something new, but I can handle it well," he emphasizes.

Above all, the enduring popularity of "Ein Stern" has had a pleasing side effect for Nik P.: countless celestial bodies in the night sky actually bear his name today. Naming a distant star after someone - dozens of people have probably already had this idea in the life of the pop legend. "I got a star from Carmen Nebel that bears my name, I got one from my record company, from fans (...). I don't know how many stars up there are called Nik P.," he laughs.

From September to November, Nik P. is on a big tour on the occasion of his 25th anniversary and next Sunday (May 21) he will heat up the audience at the Rulantica water park with "Immer wieder sonntags".
