An anti-government demonstration will be held this evening (Saturday) in about 150 locations across the country, centered, as every week, at the main rally at Kaplan Junction in Tel Aviv. This is the 20th week of the demonstrations, which will take place this week, with an emphasis on the budget and the disputes over it. Opposition Leader Yair Lapid will speak at a demonstration in Herzliya, as will National Camp Chairman Benny Gantz in Petah Tikva. "Looting the coffers for the benefit of the government at the expense of the citizens is a dictatorship," the protest organizers said in a statement.

The weekly march will leave Dizengoff Square at 19:00, and about an hour later the rally is expected to open in Kaplan. Among its speakers are Shaul Meridor, a high-tech entrepreneur and former head of the Finance Ministry's budget department, Sefi Rechlevsky, author of Messiah's Donkey, and Tel Aviv Deputy Mayor Meital Lehavi.

"Looting the public purse for those close to the government, instead of investing in citizens, is another stage in turning Israel into a dictatorship," the organizers said. "As in Hungary and Poland, as in dictatorships from the Third World, instead of investing public money in improving the country, they loot for the sake of the government. Netanyahu is wasting time in futile talks at the president's residence, and meanwhile looting 14 billion shekels of taxpayers' money to his friends, corrupt money designed to enable him to pass dictatorship laws. Lapid and Gantz must immediately exit the fraudulent talks," they added.
