Bahrain will restore its ambassador to Lebanon, after a year and a half of crisis between the two countries, announced Saturday, May 20, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on its website. "The Kingdom of Bahrain has decided to resume its diplomatic representation at the ambassadorial level to the brotherly Lebanese Republic, strengthening fraternal relations between the two countries," the Bahraini official statement said. Acting Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati immediately "welcomed this decision, in the context of fraternal relations between the two countries."
Several Gulf Arab countries recalled their diplomats to Beirut in October 2021 in retaliation after a Lebanese minister criticized Saudi Arabia's intervention in the war in Yemen. Intervened in 2015 in Yemen, a military coalition led by Saudi Arabia in which the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain also participates, supports the government against the Houthi rebels close to Iran.
