New poll makes AfD rejoice – Habeck receives receipt for witness affair

2023-05-20T18:48:34.254Z

Highlights: Sunday trend sees the AfD continuing to rise, while the SPD is gaining ground and still losing. If federal elections were held next Sunday, the traffic light coalition would lose its majority, according to the Insa survey. Bündnis90/Die Grünen can only dream of such an increase at the moment. Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock and Economics Minister Robert Habeck also has to cope with another setback in the Sunday trend and falls behind the result of the Bundestag election.

A new poll shows a clear winner. The Sunday trend sees the AfD continuing to rise, while the SPD is gaining ground and still losing.

Berlin – The new survey by Insa makes people sit up and take notice – and not necessarily in a positive sense for the federal government. Because in the Sunday trend, a big winner emerged, which, however, has nothing to do with the SPD, Greens or FDP. In a survey commissioned by Bild by the opinion research institute Insa, the AfD currently came to 17 percent.

Poll results that the Alternative for Germany has not reached for more than five years and could put the party around the chairmen Alice Weidel and Tino Chrupalla in rapture.

Poll hammer: AfD big winner in the Sunday trend

Compared to the previous week, the AfD was able to increase by one percentage point in the survey, confirming the current values in the latest Forsa survey. Meanwhile, Bündnis90/Die Grünen can only dream of such an increase at the moment. The party led by Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock and Economics Minister Robert Habeck also has to cope with another setback in the Sunday trend and falls behind the result of the Bundestag election with only 14 percent. At that time, the population had cast 14.8 percent of their votes for the party.

But in the survey, they were served the receipt, not least because of the "best man affair" around State Secretary Patrick Graichen, in which Habeck apparently did not cut a good figure with the voters. The displeasure with the implementation of the heating law could also have played a role in the loss of confidence in the current survey. In addition, Habeck is already facing new trouble after the Graichen affair.

Sunday trend: Insa poll shows growth for the SPD and losses for the FDP

Among the losers in the poll are also the FDP. Finance Minister Christian Lindner's party also suffered losses on Sundays. The Liberals, like their coalition partner, lost one percentage point compared to the previous week.

Thus, the SPD, as the only member of the traffic light, can feel at least a little like a winner. After all, Chancellor Olaf Scholz's party was able to improve by one percent in the current survey, further confirming a certain upward trend after the poll lows. But compared to the AfD, the joy about 21 percent should probably be much more subdued.

Bad news for traffic lights: According to Insa survey, coalition of SPD, Greens and FDP loses majority

Although the lead over the Union of CDU and CSU could be somewhat reduced by the current results of the survey, Friedrich Merz's party continues to draw its circles at the top with an unchanged 28 percent, according to the results in the Sunday trend. With the Left Party, the third opposition party in the Bundestag also recorded slight gains of one percentage point compared to the previous week.
