Representatives of the Sudanese army, led by General Abdel Fattah al-Burhane, and paramilitaries of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), General Mohamed Hamdane Daglo, have agreed to a one-week ceasefire, starting Monday, announced Saturday, May 20 in a joint statement, the United States and Saudi Arabia.
This truce "could be extended with the agreement of both parties," said the statement released by the US State Department on Saturday evening, adding that the two parties had "agreed to facilitate the delivery and distribution of humanitarian aid, restore essential services and withdraw troops from hospitals and essential public infrastructure."
