After battling cancer in his final years: Zohar Zisapel, May, who was one of the founders and heads of the high-tech industry, together with his brother Yehuda Zisapel, passed away yesterday (Friday) at the age of 74. Zohar and Yehuda founded the RedBynet Group, from which many exits and IPOs have grown and dozens of companies.

In 1975, Yehuda Zisapel founded Bitcom Agencies, which marketed communications products.
After about seven years, the Zisapel brothers switched to manufacturing and developing communications products for export. Red Computer Communications was the first company they founded together and was the first in the Red Bynet Group. Zohar Zisapel was also an active chairman of the board of directors at Ceragon and a member of the board of directors of RADCOM.

The brothers made sure to contribute to the community by the company under their management. RAD Computer Communications awards hundreds of scholarships annually to outstanding underprivileged students specializing in engineering and computer science. In addition, the organization donates about 15 computer rooms each year to boarding schools and other educational institutions for children and youth at risk.

Zohar Zisapel was awarded the Israel Defense Prize in 1977. His daughter is the writer Klil Zisapel. As of the end of 2021, the Zisapel family was valued at $1.7 billion.

Zisapel acted as a manager and investor for the establishment of a series of Israeli software companies. Since the brothers founded the Red Bynet Group, over 1,000 Israeli high-tech entrepreneurs have emerged over the years.

Zisapel was born in 1949 in Tel Aviv and was the son of immigrant parents from Poland. After his undergraduate education at the Technion, Zisapel completed his compulsory service in the IDF and then got a job in the electronic research department of the Ministry of Defense in Tel Aviv, eventually serving as its head. In 1977 he received the Israel Defense Prize for his work.
