An indictment was recently filed in the Ramle Magistrate's Court against Shahdi Azbarga (38, from Lod), after he broke into an apartment in the city and committed an indecent act on a female resident sleeping in one of the rooms.
According to the indictment filed, at the beginning of the month, Azberga broke into an apartment in Lod where the complainant, her sister and nephews lived. Azberga opened the window next to the front door of the apartment, entered the complainant's room, took off his clothes until he remained naked, and stroked her back and legs while she slept.
As a result of his actions, the complainant woke up in a panic and called her niece, who was also asleep, to come to her room because there was a naked man touching her.
A request was filed to extend his detention until the end of the proceedings,
Azberga tried to silence the two, but when he realized that the other residents of the house had also woken up, he collected his clothes and went into the apartment's bathroom. At this point, the complainant and her family called the police, left the apartment and locked it from the outside so that Azberga remained inside until he was arrested.
"Supposed to feel safer than anything"
In parallel to the indictment accusing Azberga of committing offenses of breaking into a place of residence and indecent assault, the State Prosecutor's Office filed a request to extend his detention until the end of the proceedings, stating, inter alia: "These are serious acts that include breaking into the complainants' fortress home in the middle of the night – a place where they should feel safest than anything else.
"Moreover, the indecent acts were committed on the complainant while the respondent took advantage of the fact that she was asleep, and after he took off his clothes inside her room and remained completely naked – undoubtedly both a terrifying and dangerous situation."
