In Ganei Yehoshua Park in the heart of Tel Aviv, in an urban and intensive environment, lies the "Rosh Tzipor" bird watching park – a tourist, educational and experience site, which is a unique meeting point between nature and the city.

Yaron Cherka, chief birder at the JNF, toured the park with us in order to understand firsthand the activity that takes place for the arrival of the birds, which are at the peak of the spring migration, and also showed us the process of stamping a bird, which it undergoes so that it can be tracked.

"Our goal is to understand the dynamics of the bird population," Cherka explained. "We are in a world of climate crisis, and birds are also changing their migration dates. We understand that if humans don't understand the importance of this, then there simply won't be birds."

At the same time, Cherka conveyed an optimistic message: "Over the years, people understand the value of our activity and the need for nature. Birds are a spearhead for nature and the environment. It's a connection that can lead to high environmental awareness and less waste."
