After decades during which the family lived in their beloved apartment in Petah Tikva, the parents decided that the time had come to renew, refresh and adapt the current living environment to multi-participant accommodation. Most of their children left home, began to build their own lives, and the ultimate goal was to create a spacious public wing where they could all gather together and enjoy quality time together. They recruited Liat Harel, owner of a design and architecture studio, to the task, and quickly realized that the new needs would be very difficult to implement in the existing space, mainly due to constructive constraints.

"I strongly recommended that they look for a new apartment because the current one had a lot of limitations, it was important to me that the end result accurately meet their needs," she explains. "For their part, they accepted the offer and over the coming period potential assets were examined. They sent me plans to study the feasibility, until we found the optimal apartment where we could give up two of the bedrooms to create an extra-large public wing and a spacious and bright master bedroom."

And indeed it was. The six-room apartment has been converted into a large three-bedroom apartment with an extra spacious public wing. "The couple aspired to a modernly designed apartment, where every corner would be carefully taken care of; This spacious and airy apartment has plenty of storage space and will feature pleasant monochromatic colours with chocolate accents. The dimension of size is already visible at the entrance. Like all tiles, cladding and sanitary ware, we chose MODY for the floor of the public space. We used especially large porcelain granite tiles (3.1/2 m) in a shade of gray that allowed us to create as continuous a look as possible and at the same time to sequence the corridor with one tile, which also gives the area connecting the public and the private a very polished look. For the windows around the perimeter of the space, I chose light gray mesh curtains that blend in with the floor tone."

Harel chose to cover the entrance wall with three-dimensional planks in a dramatic black shade: "The wall includes the entrance door to the apartment, which assimilates into the cladding plane, and the electrical and communication cabinets. However, it is continuous and no openings are seen. To the left of the front door, we incorporated from the floor to the height of the lowered ceiling, a modern work of art by the painter Dalit Marom, which we created in collaboration with the WALL company, which precisely adapted the work to the colors of the space and dimensions."

The public space is called as one piece without barriers and includes an especially large parallel kitchen, a formal living room and a dining area around which many diners can attract. "It was important for us to design a comfortable and highly functional kitchen, so the façade of the towers is 6 meters long and the length of the island is no less than 4 meters. The façade of the tall ones consists of three levels: the outer one is covered with walnut veneer, the middle one is in a dark nano formula, and the inner wall of the niche is covered with a marble-like dekton surface with brown tendons, identical to the island surface used for work, cooking and eating, from which also emanates a TV screen that faces the living room and rises as needed by an electric elevator. Above the island we installed two amorphous brass floating fixtures that serve as a distinct design element - since the living room faces the kitchen it was important for us to create a clean, meticulous and beautifully designed space"

The sitting system in the living room consists of a particularly comfortable rickliner sofa upholstered in stone shade leather and opens on demand, making it especially comfortable and pampering, especially at the end of a challenging work day. The rickliner can be easily closed and thus becomes representative. Next to her, Harel incorporated a leather-upholstered armchair in a camel shade that blends with the walnut veneer facades in the kitchen. On the amorphous carpet, in shades of clay, gray and black, whose shape is associated with the floating lamps in the kitchen, were two drop-shaped coffee tables made of iron construction and plates – one of walnut wood and the other of marble.

Next to the living room is the large dining area. Harel chose to cover the wall with planks in a shade of brown wood that create a frame and serve as an echo of the high wall in the kitchen, which stands parallel: "The table, which is 2.4 meters long and 1.1 meters wide when closed, is made of iron construction and a dekton plate identical to the one in the kitchen. It turned out that way by chance, we didn't intend to produce a self-made table and thankfully the connection created between the surfaces is fantastic. Above the table hung two geometric light fixtures that repeat the double concept we started in the kitchen."

The private wing of the apartment is no less impressive than the public one. It is evident that Harel and the couple invested thought in the design of the bathrooms and created two spaces that speak the same language and create a similar vibe that connects the spaces of the apartment. "I chose to cover both the general bathroom and the couple's bathroom with long narrow strip tiles in the floor and shower stall area, each with a different pattern and shade. These tiles we chose at MODY are a celebration of graphic and geometric patterns in shades of gray and black with touches of broken white. We deployed them randomly out of a desire to create a look as dynamic, fluid and natural as possible. The rest of the walls were covered with gray tiles that give a balanced look and the sanitary ware chosen is dark and as such intensifies the drama and the dimension of luxury. The bathroom cabinets were also painted black and had a white Corian surface installed on them. The look is complemented by shades made of dark wooden stripes that soften the light that penetrates in and create privacy.

The couple's master bedroom is large and dignified, the product of two bedrooms joined together and united into one space. Harel chose to cover the bedroom floor with highly durable SPC parquet, with a natural wood look and texture that does not require maintenance. In the wall opposite the bed, a 6-meter-long sliding wall-to-wall cabinet was designed. In the center of the façade, a mirror was installed through which hides a TV screen that is revealed on demand, on which the wallpaper created by Harel is also reflected, especially according to the specific colors and dimensions of the space. The couple also enjoy an intimate relaxation corner located next to the bed with a comfortable armchair and side table. The bright curtain that spills from floor to ceiling complements and enhances the soft atmosphere.
