Unterhaching – On Saturday morning, there was an accident on the A995 near Unterhaching: A truck crashed into the guardrail. The damage amounts to about 25,000 euros.

On Saturday (3 June), a serious accident occurred at around 4.45 a.m. on the A995 in the direction of Munich: According to the Holzkirchen motorway police, the driver of a beverage truck with a trailer "veered off the road to the right for unknown reasons and collided with the guardrail".

Due to the force of the impact, about 200 meters of the crash barrier were severely damaged. Fortunately, no one was injured. The police estimate the total damage at 25,000 euros.

Elaborate salvage

According to the report, the recovery of the team was time-consuming, as the vehicle came to a stop in an unfavorable position (slight lean position). A mobile crane had to be used to lift the tractor-trailer back onto the road and tow it away. "During the recovery work, there were slight traffic obstructions that did not lead to a major traffic jam," explains the police.

This has taken up investigations into the exact circumstances of the accident. It is suspected that a driving error by the 21-year-old truck driver was responsible for the accident, the report said. "Whether alcohol, excessive speed or physical impairments played a role are still the subject of the investigation."

Local water management office

The Hohenbrunn motorway maintenance department worked to repair the damaged crash barrier as quickly as possible in order to restore road safety. The cargo, consisting of crates of beverages, had to be reloaded by THW München Land. The water management office was on site to clarify the extent to which operating materials had penetrated the ground.

Police warn: No distractions while driving

In this context, the Holzkirchen motorway police station advises people to concentrate on the road while driving. "Distractions while driving can be dangerous and increase the risk of accidents." The police regularly remind people that distractions at the wheel, such as using a mobile phone, eating or drinking, operating navigation devices and composing text messages while driving, should be avoided. "It is important to be aware that distractions at the wheel not only endanger one's own life, but also the lives of other road users," warns the police.
