MK Tali Gottlieb sent a letter today (Friday) to Knesset Legal Advisor Sagit Afik asking her to accept her position before petitioning the High Court of Justice against the decision of Coalition Chairman MK Ofir Katz on the sanctions for the severe and unprecedented violation of coalition and factional discipline by MK Gottlieb when she refused to withdraw her candidacy from the vote on the members of the Judicial Selection Committee held on Wednesday.

"Pre-High Court warning in connection with the illegal and authoritative decision of Coalition Chairman MK Ofir Katz regarding the denial of parliamentary rights of the undersigned," the letter reads. Among other things, Gottlieb argues that "the Knesset's right to elect one of its members and the right of the MK to secretly choose his representative and even himself to the
committee are clear, basic and unconditional rights."
In another paragraph of her letter, Gottlieb claims that Netanyahu and Deri are interested in shelving the reform. "I believe that no one is asking for an appeal to the High Court of Justice where the circumstances of the decision to withdraw the candidacy of the coalition representatives will be detailed, and the circumstances of the concealment from the public that the goal of the Prime Minister and Minister Deri is to dissolve and reject the reform."

In another paragraph, Gottlieb claims that Cabinet Secretary Yossi Fuchs said in an interview with Israel Hayom that the reform has fallen to the bottom of Netanyahu's list of priorities. "Before writing these words, Attorney Yossi Fuchs, Cabinet Secretary, said that the reform is at the bottom of the Prime Minister's list of priorities, and it is of course legitimate as long as they tell the truth to the public, provided that they do not use the undersigned and deny her clear right to be a candidate for election by Knesset members."
