The Electronic Handcuffing Law is expected to be raised tomorrow (Sunday) in the Ministerial Committee on Legislation.
The document that was circulated indicates that it is proposed to authorize the Ministerial Committee for Legislative Affairs to apply a law of continuity to the law passed in the previous Knesset, and to authorize the Ministerial Committee to promote amendments to the law.
The proposed amendments soften the original bill, including: the maximum number of electronic monitoring measures should not exceed 200 per year, the maximum number of hazardous assessments should not exceed 300 per year, and the cost to implement the law should not exceed 39 million each year.
The following ministries will participate in funding the implementation of the law: the Ministry of National Security, the Ministry of Innovation and Technology, the Ministry of Economy, the Prime Minister's Office and the Ministry for the Advancement of the Status of Women, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Housing and Construction, and the Ministry of Culture. The most significant amendment relates to the issue of the previous conviction that Minister Ben-Gvir demanded to be amended in the text of the bill.
