The Jerusalem Magistrate's Court on Monday extended the detention of Faten Saleh, a 30-year-old kindergarten teacher from the Shuafat refugee camp, who was arrested after suspicion arose that she behaved violently towards the toddlers at the daycare center where she worked, in the Beit HaKerem neighborhood of Jerusalem.
Israel Hayom has learned that the investigation was opened following a complaint by one of the parents of children at the daycare center, and after viewing cameras installed there that showed alleged violence by the kindergarten teacher. During the court hearing, it emerged that the suspect admitted that she had behaved towards the toddlers in a manner inappropriate to her job.

The management of the daycare center said: "The caregiver received approval from the Ministry of Education to work at the daycare center as part of the licensing procedures, as is customary. In May, she was questioned by police after a parent's complaint and later released. The police investigator instructed the daycare director to return the caregiver to work after five days, and so it was. The management of the daycare center acted and is acting in accordance with police guidelines, and will continue to cooperate with the authorities for the welfare of the children."
