Two facilities in the Au, one in the Upper Town: The newly renovated Kneipp facilities in Weilheim were reopened with a cheerful celebration. They had been extensively renovated and equipped with arm basins and are now signposted.

Weilheim – "Drun't in the green floodplain stands a pear tree, beautiful blue, juche" high voices rang out last Friday near the Ammer in Weilheim. There was no Kneipp basin in the 16th century, and the number of syllables would not have been right for rewriting, but the one with the "Au" was a perfect fit. The children of the Kneipp children's home Mariae Himmelfahrt welcomed the guests with this old folk song to the ceremonial reopening of the Kneipp basin in the Au near the Ammersteg - exactly on the 126th anniversary of the death of Pastor Sebastian Kneipp.

Kneipp facility in the Au: There is now also an arm plunge pool

Prof. Hans-Joachim Reinhard, chairman of the Kneipp Association Weilheim-Pfaffenwinkel, welcomed members, friends, representatives of other associations, city politicians, sponsors, representatives of the authorities and interested Weilheimers to the renovated facility: In addition to a new entrance to the natural pool, there is now an arm plunge pool with a water pump, which is wheelchair accessible, and a seating area with a table. In addition, signs have been placed on the site pointing to Kneipp's health teachings.

90 percent funding from the Free State of Bavaria

Reinhard first thanked his wife and 2nd chairman Gabriele Hoss-Reinhard: "She had most of the work." And also the many helpers from the association. He also emphasized the employees of the municipal utilities, who actively helped with the construction and connection of the pool and the seating area as well as the construction of the natural steps into the pool: "It's good to have people who have a clue and the right tools." Special thanks were also given to Thomas Orbig, head of the savings bank, as chairman of the "Winfried and Centa Böhm Foundation", which contributed to the costs of renovating the three club facilities.

The facilities, two in the Au, one in the Upper Town, were funded with 2021 percent of the costs as part of the special program "Tourist Infrastructure - Kneipp Facilities" launched by the Free State of Bavaria in 200 on the occasion of the 90th birthday of Pastor Kneipp. A total of 174 applications with a funding requirement of 2.3 million euros were received in Bavaria. Bavaria's Minister of Economic Affairs, Hubert Aiwanger, justified the program at the time in times of the pandemic: "A well-developed Kneipp infrastructure can meet the needs of many people for a holiday at home and health-promoting relaxation."

And after short greetings from Weilheim's 3rd mayor Alfred Honisch and the regional chairman Heinz Becker of the Kneipp regional association, the official part ended in a health-promoting way before it went to the pool and the buffet: Gabriele Hoss-Reinhard on the ukulele and the "Ziach Wolf" on the accordion played a movement song to join in.
